Our response to the Commons vote on UK Aid

Dr Marangu Njogu, CEO of Windle International, said: 

"The reduction of aid by the UK government, particularly during a global pandemic which is already disproportionately affecting children in some of the most challenging situations in the world, will undoubtedly worsen the situation. 

"We have already seen across our operations the devastating impact of Covid-19 on education for refugees and people who have been affected by conflict. The vote today by the UK government means that children, particularly girls, in some of the most fragile situations in the world, will never be given the opportunity to fulfil their potential, to realise their dreams and to create livelihoods for themselves and their families. The impact of this decision will create a crippling effect over their nascent stages of growth and self-reliance, and will be felt for years to come. 

"As Windle family, we will continue to do everything we can to protect the rights of all refugees, conflict-affected and marginalised communities in eastern Africa to access quality education."
