WIU Contributes to Published Research

We're delighted to share that Windle International Uganda has been part of a newly published feasibility study on child protection in humanitarian settings. The study focused on the proactive screening for signs of sexual violence against children, or SVAC.

Carried out in Kiryandongo Refugee Settlement alongside the Population Council and the UNHCR, the research investigates how school-based screening led by para-social workers can identify and support vulnerable children, especially those at risk for sexual violence against children (SVAC). The study makes the case for proactive, community-rooted child protection and for strengthening the referral systems that connect children in crisis to the help they need.

A special congratulations to our own Hilda Namakula-Masaba, whose contribution as a co-author reflects the calibre of expertise within our team. As Program Lead at Windle International Uganda, Hilda is integral to WIU’s continued contributions to the educational sector within the nation. Thank you, Hilda, for your dedication to the WIU mission!
