Big Give Impact Update - LIFT Project x WIU

Supported by funds raised through the Big Give Christmas Challenge, Windle International Uganda has now had 100 learners pass through the LIFT Project. The Learning and Innovation for Future Trades (LIFT) Project aims to empower urban refugees and conflict-affected youth by improving access to education, skills training, and employability. Through the generous support of Big Give contributors, key milestones have been achieved in resource centre refurbishment, staff recruitment, and the initiation of targeted training programmes all informed by a project baseline survey.

Most recently, a cohort students sat both mock and final exams to test their English proficiency. Instruction of English is a major focus of LIFT. Many refugees arrive to Kampala with little ability to read, write, or converse in English. This is another hurdle they must conquer and can play a major part in gaining employment.
